In your opinion, do you like birthday parties that are small or big?

My sweet 16 is coming up and I’m either planning:
Big party (Hotel Lounge/One night):
Buffet, Karaoke (maybe), TV (movies), etc. It’ll be formal, but nothing fancy. About 20-30 people.

OR all my girlfriends and few boys:
Hotel (one night).. mani/pedi, spa, pool, jacuzzi, etc for my girls
then host a cute chocolate fondue table and talk the whole night, and after back to the hotel and watch movies, eat cake, play wii etc and probably a couple of drinks (don’t worry there’s a parent). It’s also formal.

What should I do? There’s pros and cons, I don’t want to force invitations to people I haven’t talked to in ages just to rocket my guest list for my big party; but the 10-13 people (smaller group) will be more elegant and classy (close buddies).
So yeah I’m kind of leaning to the closer buddy party just because it’s less hassle, it won’t cost more, and I don’t like people just coming and leaving, and not pitching it for the hall (big party.) What do you guys think?

Chosen Answer:

i think in a way you already answered your own question. it seems to me that youre leaning towards the smaller of the two. after reading your question, i agree with you. smaller would definitely be better because it would be more intimate, allow more time for conversation and bonding with less hassle running around making sure you talk to everyone. i was just wondering- how is the 2nd (smaller) party going to be formal? its going to be a relaxed environment at the hotel, then everyone will get changed for the fondue? either way, i think you should stick with your gut instinct and invite just your closest friends
