Russian warships in Syrian waters
Sat, 20 Sep 2008 01:15:34 GMT
Ten Russian warships have been deployed at the Syrian port of Tartus based on an accord reached by the two sides after the August south Caucases conflict.
Rear Admiral Andrei Baranov, head of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s operations directorate, said Friday the Russian engineering crew was at Tartus to expand the capacity of the harbor to host additional fleet vessels. http://www.presstv.ir/Detail.aspx?id=69983§ionid=351020602

Russia moves ships to Syrian waters – the only thing between Syria and Israel is a piece of Lebenon – Syria is very close to Israel and ships are parked there now
The Russian President has also said
The US attacked Russia using Georgian hands
I would respond the same way to a NATO nation
If the US does not stop it’s anti Russian rehtoric then they will not be able to use Russian air space to deliver NATO cargo to Afghanistan
The other route used by NATO is through Pakistan – who is mad at the US for cross border raids

This is a news report from today by an Indian newpaper, I have not seen anything on US news channels yet, but I will keep watching. A crazy guy my hubby works with thinks that Russians are planning to attack the US. Maybe he’s onto something.

I think Bush Jr would like more wars, he’s trying to out do his dad.
perhaps there won’t be a 44th president of the united states, bush is the end
I don’t think it is Syria that Russia is concerned about. Russia knows that Israel is very close to making a move on Iran. Truth be known, I am sure that the United States has nuclear capabilities very near by. Newt Gingridge said it best, “world war 3 has already started.”
This is just a show of force and no need to get excited or nervous. It is a game both sides have played for years and will continue to do so for years. Russian submarines have been in Long Beach Bay, San Diego Bay and other crucial ports in America on more than one occassion especially during the cold war. We also have had our submarines in their ports and areas we shouldn’t have. They call this war games. Once in awhile, believe it or not, we have taken one out and visa versa, it is called an accident at sea. It is a game we both understand the consequences of if we get caught without the public eye watching. As a Viet Nam Vet I can tell you we have had many close calls on both sides that the public have not been aware of. It is no big deal it is just a way of each other having a check and balance system of our military might and Russia trying to get back into the game of being a formitable force in the world.
It appears from this text that Russia cannot speak for themselves–this is hardly consistent with a World power representation.
