… a benefit?!
I was invited to attend a co-worker’s sister-in-law’s benefit at a museum tonight. Unfortunately, I completely forgot about this when I picked up my clothes today. Today’s “Casual Friday” dress code at the office so I’m wearing a hot pink cotton sweater, black faded jeans and a pair of black boots (Rocket Dogs… not dressy ones).
I spoke to my co-worker (the host) and she said that what I was wearing was fine but she’s wearing a dressy top and black jeans. Should I buy a new outfit during my break? Some of the girls that are going are dressed much less casual than I am and I don’t want to feel out of place.

What’s your advice?
picked out* my clothes (oops!)
I appreciate your honest opinions. Today’s payday. $ isn’t an issue.
Chosen Answer:
If your clothing fits in with others that will be in attendance, you should be fine. You will blend in with them. Where I am from, you wouldn’t dare go to a museum in jeans. But every place is different.

I think you need to dress up a little bit more than you are. I am sure you already look nice but for a benifit you should be just a little more formal.
I hate to say you have to go spend money on your break, but the clothes you are wearing will not make a good impression at the benefit.
Better go shopping quick because you won’t feel comfortable enough to enjoy yourself or make a great impression. Maybe check for a skirt or whatever part of your outfit could pull together a dressier appearance. Or treat yourself to those accessories you always wanted to dress up what you are wearing! Maybe do a little something with the hair and makeup as well to make you look/feel a bit more polished than in the workplace. Then just go have fun and be sure to thank your host for inviting you.
I agree, and, I’m just going to throw it out there:
If you get a dress that’s a little nice, but still casual, throw on some nude tights, and keep the boots you’re wearing, it can be inexpensive and still nice, while not feeling uncomfortable because you’re over dressed.
I would dress up a bit more, there is no telling who you might run into.
